What is the USCIS receipt number (USCIS Number)?
After applying for your visa with USCIS, you are assigned a unique 13-digit USCIS case status number. This is the receipt number that is found on your Form I-797. To check your visa, check the status of green card or immigration application, that you filed with the USCIS, you have to use this receipt number to check your USCIS case status online.
There are different service centers where the applications are processed. The first 3 characters of your receipt number determine which service center will be processing your file. Basically, there are four USCIS service centers that take care of all visa applications. The four centers are WAC, LIN, SRC, EAC. For example, if your application is submitted to a California, your USCIS receipt number’s first 3 characters will be WAC.

Input your 13-digit receipt number in the box provided. it is labeled, “enter your receipt number”. Be sure to carefully and accurately enter your all 13 letters or characters as printed on your receipt. Also, make sure there are no spaces. The form field is not case sensitive, so you can decide to enter your case status number either by capital letters or small letters.
Now click or hit on the “Check Status” button and wait for a second or two. When the page refreshes you should see information about your case status. But if you wrongly inputted your USCIS case status online you will get an error and you have to correctly input your number.
